SCALEMASTER: Scale evaluation Services:

Oppor-TUNE-ist Piano Service provides a service to evaluate and recommend a scale for you as an alternative to purchasing the SCALEMASTER program.

Here's the offer. You download one of the input forms to fill out with data you capture from the instrument in project. Send the completed data form back to Oppor-TUNE-ist. We will use your supplied data to upload in to SCALEMASTER. The returned set of data will be the original scale printed in a data sheet, graphs of the Speaking Length, Wrap Sizes, and tail lengths for data confirmation and the graphics of the original Tension, Volume, Inharmonicity and Expansion data calculated by the program. This will be followed by a recommended scale print out data sheet, winding sheet at tension and at rest and the Tension , Volume, Inharmonicity and Expansion graphs for the recommended scale. And of course, an invoice.

You will be able to order your custom bass strings and have a data sheets to Q.A. the returned strings in addition to the information needed to string the plain wire sections with the recommeded wire sizes.

Cost of this service is $100 US. It could be a little more if the supplied data is incomplete, in error, or in a format that requires hand entry.

The input forms come in 3 flavors and 3 formats. Inch Decimal (1.125), Inch fractional (1 1/8), and Metric (26.208 mm) are the "flavors". Comma Separated Values (.CSV), Rich Text (.rtf) and MS WORD (.doc) are the formats. the CSV format is the most preferred and should easily upload into most any modern spreadsheet program. The MS WORD documents are the second choice as the tables convert to Excel. We can work with Rich Text as well. In all cases the data supplied back in one of these forms is sucked up into a converter tool that produces a proprietary CSV file that uploads into the SCALEMASTER program.

Any Comments (like "string 29 has one tied string" or "evaluate original and rescale a A435, keep tension in new scale no more than original')

If you include your preferred string manufacture's name and contact information we will also do a manufactureability check to ensure the closest fit to what can me made from the manufactures list of core and wrap guages.

Project Notebook.xls is a Microsoft Excel file with sheets to hold most project data (piano, owner, tasks, materials, timesheet, critical measurements) and includes a great worksheet for scale data capture with an automatic calculator to convert the data into the uploadable format for SCALEMASTER.
